What are the 4Cs of Diamond?

COLOUR

The term diamond colour describes the inherent hue of a diamond, which is rated from D to Z, with D being the rarest and most colourless.

Classified as colourless, D–E–F diamonds give the highest degree of clarity and brilliance; even up close, they seem bright white.

At Yarra Jewels, we only use D, E, and F-coloured diamonds to provide optimal shine, elegance, and aesthetic excellence.

The faint warm tone of G–H–I–J–K–M diamonds can be seen in some lighting situations.

N–R diamonds have a distinct colour and are usually seen in jewellery that is more affordable.

S–Z diamonds are regarded as lower on the colour scale and have a distinct yellow or brown hue. Outside of the D–Z grade, fancy yellow diamonds are prized for their deliberate, deep yellow hue as opposed to their colourlessness.

CLARITY

The natural inclusions, or minute internal features that occur when a diamond is generated deep within the earth, are referred to as diamond clarity. These entirely natural inclusions aid gemologists in determining a diamond's quality.

Professional graders use clarity grades to indicate how noticeable these inclusions are at 10× magnification. VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI, and I are the primary clarity grades.

Even with magnification, the minuscule inclusions of VVS1 (Very Very Slightly Included 1) diamonds are practically undetectable. With tiny inclusions that are still undetectable to the unaided eye, VVS2 diamonds are very comparable.

Very tiny inclusions may be present in VS1 (Very Slightly Included 1) diamonds, but they are never apparent to the unaided eye. These grades are regarded as premium diamonds because they have remarkable clarity and brightness when viewed in person.

Diamond cut is graded based on proportions, symmetry, and polish. Excellent and ideal cuts maximise light performance and visual sparkle. A precisely cut diamond appears brighter and more visually striking.
